Combahee River Raid Exhibition

Exhibition signage for Picturing Freedom: Harriet Tubman & the Combahee River Raid at the Gibbes Museum of Art. Exploring the work of Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Dr. Edda Fields-Black, author of COMBEE: Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom during the Civil War, and her collaboration with acclaimed environmental photographer J Henry Fair. Curated by Dr. Vanessa Thaxton-Ward and featuring works by noteworthy artists including Faith Ringgold, William H. Johnson, Jacob Lawerence, and (banner-favorite) Stephen Towns. Retracing the historic Combahee River Raid and examining how artists evoke Harriet Tubman’s image to explore themes of freedom, resistance, and legacy.

William H. Johnson Exhibition

Exhibition design for Fighters for Freedom: William H. Johnson Picturing Justice, an amazing collection of works on loan from the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Other works from his Fighters for Freedom series include portraits of George Washington Carver, Marian Anderson, and Mahatma Gandhi. The first-ever presentation of this series in Johnson’s home state of South Carolina.

Rory McEwen Exhibition

The loveliest exhibition opening on this side of the pond! “Rory McEwen: A New Perspective on Nature” began its US exhibition tour in Charleston. On view at the Gibbes Museum of Art before traveling to Boston, Palm Beach, and Chicago. Exhibition in partnership with Rory McEwen Estate, Kew Gardens (London) and Oak Spring Garden Foundation (Virginia) curated by Ruth L. A. Stiff. Design by Banks Creative based on exhibition brand by Rory McEwen Estate, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (London).

Something Terrible May Happen Exhibition

Elusive (and award-winning) invitation for A Depraved Masquerade opening at the Gibbes Museum! Something Terrible May Happen: The Art of Aubrey Beardsley and Edward “Ned” I.R. Jennings featured tantalizing wall labels, theatrical text panels, inspiring big vinyl quotes, luscious banners, and a peacock feather border to top it off! Curated by Curator of Education and Programs Chase Quinn.

Flights of Fancy Exhibition

Drayton Hall special exhibit “Flights of Fancy: An Exploration of Uncommon Birds" on view at The Charleston Show. Featuring the loveliest collection of Old World birds, giant owl photo ops, and an antique map plotting the native locations of these fanciful birds circa 1733! 

WPA Exhibition

WPA exhibition "A New Deal: Artists at Work" features a selection of iconic works created during the Great Depression of the 1930s, as part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration (WPA) Federal Art program. 

Beeple Exhibition
